The first Smithsonian Institute for
2014 is scheduled for one week this summer, from Monday, June 23 through
Friday, June 27. The focus of this first one is "Teaching English/Language
Arts (ELA) through Music, Drama, and the Arts. It should be a really great
experience as we have invited the presenters back who you enjoyed the most last
summer, as well as added some new ones.
As a heads-up, the Smithsonian Institute IV is scheduled for the week of July 28-August 1. This one will focus on science methods. We will actually take a day trip to Theodore Roosevelt National Park near Medora for a geologic dig and to search for plants for natural paints.
You will earn credit for the EDU 315 course for participating in the full 5-day institute. Like last year, you will come away with a wealth of knowledge, a ton of fun, and a whole collection of resources. I’m sure Leah will be letting you know what time things start on Monday, June 23, but you can expect about 8:30 AM in the lower level of the Jack Barden Center. You will go each day until 4 – 4:30 except for Friday, when you end about 3 PM.
Let me know if you have questions. Take care!
