As most of you already knew, Project CEDAR was in it's last year this past year. It was scheduled to end summer of 2015 but we got an extension for one year. We received a second extension during the summer 2016 but now that period is over. We were fortunate to get the grant extended for one extra year, and we got two, so that was a good thing.
We still have Praxis vouchers that we ordered ahead of time if you need them. Jen Heid has them available so visit with her.
Students who were supported by Project CEDAR can continue their education if they have other means of funding. The main thing that will be different is the funding Project CEDAR
participants were able to receive each semester is no longer available.
Contact Jen about the Praxis vouchers and email Lisa if you have any questions about the grant.
Happy summer!
Project CEDAR

The First Praxis Core Boot Camp
The first Praxis Core Boot Camp will be offered June 19 - June 22 -
and focus on the area of Reading first and foremost, with a review of Writing and Math. The hours will be 9 am - noon/12:30
pm. Brenda Rhone will be sharing reading strategies that will help you
meet the cut scores for the Praxis Core Reading test.
We ordered test vouchers so you can take the Reading test right after the boot camp is over. If you already have a voucher, be sure to schedule your test using the voucher you have. It's a good idea to schedule it right after the Boot Camp while everything is fresh.
More details coming, such as location, etc. Child care will be available if you contact the centers and register your child(ren).
Have a great week!

Praxis Core Boot Camp
I'm in the process of planning Praxis Core Boot Camps for this summer and want to find out if you're interested in attending. The Boot Camps will be offered to you at no charge if you are a current Teacher Ed student, or if you have been within the past year.
UTTC's Teacher Ed is committed to helping you prepare for the PRAXIS I (Core) exams. You can participate in one of the Boot Camps, or all three, depending on your need.
A Praxis Core Boot Camp is three days of intense instruction and practice in Reading, Writing and Math. The first one will be offered June 19 - June 22, for four hours each day.
You will take the Praxis Core test(s) immediately after completing the Boot Camp.
Childcare will be available at the UTTC Child Development Center for registered children up to age 6. Each Boot Camp will need a minimum of 3 people or it will be re-scheduled.
Please send an email to Jen Heid at jheid@uttc.edu if you are interested in attending.
Thank you!

Update on Praxis Core Tests & Student Teaching
The voucher process to take the Praxis Core tests has changed. Instead of you getting a voucher in the mail, ETS (the company) now allows us to order the vouchers in bulk. This means when we place an order, instead of you getting vouchers, we will get a bunch of codes to for you. When you register for the test, you enter the code and you're set. Jen ordered some codes so they should be in soon.
I'm sure a number of you are hoping to student teach this fall. The deadline for applications is March 9th for preference in placement. If you have your application in by this date, you have a really good chance of getting a placement.
If you still have to pass some, or all, of your Praxis Core tests, that doesn't necessarily mean you won't be student teaching this fall. The March 9th date is for preference only. You can still take your tests, and if you pass, you can still apply for student teaching. If there are classrooms open, you might still get placed. It's basically a "first come, first placed" type setting.
It's up to you. Some of you have studied and taken your tests. Others have been putting them off for various reason. It's up to you. We would sure like to have you study and take the tests but that's your decision. You have to want to do this, like really want it and decide you're going to study hard and go for it.
Make a commitment to yourself to give it a really good try. Study, study and study some more. Then take the test again and again, until you pass. You've come a long way so keep going, just a little bit more!!!
